Schroon river by richg315 on Mon, May 16
Heading up north this weekend wondering if anyone has ever fished the Schroon river north of Lake George. Looking for any local flyshops or experiences anyone has had. From some of the info online it seems its a good river to fish.

Warms up quickly in summer time, prone to flooding as it drains a lot of the eastern adirondacks.

|Fished it for years when I lived in Glens Falls. Browns, Rainbows, some Brok trout, and the ocational bonus of Land Locked Salmon.
Good chance you will catch a Cadis hatch. Leach patterns work well and Woolies are a good choice.
I'd start at Stabuckville damn and fish down stream fron there. River bank road runs from the Chestertown exit, 25 I think, back to the exit 24. Lots of pull offs and some good fishing.
If Schroon lake hass turned over you should run into alot of action on stocked rainbows and browns.
